The Job Application Guidance Notes and all the versions of the Job Application Forms have been amended to comply with current best practice, and with the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations which came into force on 1st Oct 2006.
With the new age discrimination regulations it is now recommended by ACAS that information such as Date of Birth, and dates in relation to previous employment are excluded from Job Application Form(s). Candidates are requested, however, to provide information about material gaps in their employment history.
The Personal Details section of the Job Application Forms have also been amended so that there is no direct request for information that might distinguish candidates on the basis of sex. Both these updates to the JobApplication Form(s) have been reflected in the Guidance Notes.
These guidance notes should be sent out (with the Equality and Diversity / Equal Opportunity Recruitment Monitoring form) to applicants with the Application Form to help applicants complete the form.
The notes contain explanations in respect of the following sections of the Application Forms:-
- Education and Professional Qualifications
- Present Post
- Previous Employment
- Relevant Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience
- Other information
- Return Address
